Lookin for a bmx crankset (to fit a mid range bb with 19mm spleen? is that the thing, dont know if it matters for fitting cranks, but there you go)
or maybe some monies E50 or E60 whichever you want or E95 if you really want

I'm looking to build a touring bike, so basically if anyone has a frame with fairly upright racer geometry and braze ons to take a luggage rack give me a shout. Price dependent on the quality and condition of the frame obviously.

Thanks

anyone want to swap a barely used right hand goldfinger lever for a right hand crosstop? must be 25.4 though, not interested in oversized.

I'm currently riding a gearing of 15/46... I want to lighten my gearing down a bit...would anyone want to trade the 46t for something lighter?? I have no clue about gearing or how to change it up or down or whatever... I just know I've started cycling all around town for work and its too heavy...

What gearing would be suitable for all day cycling in Dublin city (trying to go as fast as I can)?

Thanks! :D

try 46-19-18

i had 48-20, it was not cool at the start as it was too spiny coming down from 48-15, but after a while i began to love it it is so much easier to control and accelarate very very fast. it was like 64 gear inches, so im guessing 18-19 would be close to 70 gear inches which i think would be perfect.
the couriers here will tell you more, as im sure they've all tried every ratio.

and as far as i can remember i think josh said that most couriers in dublin have 42-17 or maybe 46-17. not quite sure

just go up a tooth or two on the back... 16 or 17.... 18/19 would be the max for being speedy with a 46 on the front!

stay on prime numbers.... ie 17 and 19... get a 17 first and if it's still too heavy go 19. the 17 would be an improvement at least!

i run 48 - 19 and find it quite spinny but very easy to control!

Ok so...so going up on the back gear makes it lighter gear?

And will my chain have to be made longer or shorter?

Does anyone have a 17t back cog? I can trade a 15 for it...or something!!

Would a 42 make it lighter so?

Would it be easy to switch also???

I'm quite interested in this and may be up for getting it off you tomorrow if you're around!! :D

42-15 is what i used to ride when i had my langster (rip). seemed a pretty ideal gear to me. and yes, it will make it lighter. send me a pm if you want it and i'll send you my number.

[/quote]

you dont need to go as fast as you can, just pick the shortest route and keep up a nice average speed, slow down slightly when coming to intersections pick your gap and charge at it, its easier on the legs than bombing it everywhere and having to skid up when you come to a potential obstacle then having to pump and get your momentum going, its a marathon not a sprint. At the start you wont have the energy to keep at a huge speed all day or the bike handling to stay in control at top speed when your surprised (car doors, pedestrians stepping out, buggies and prams pushed in front of you, cars swerving without indicating, pigeons flying at your head, dogs crossing the road, massive potholes, wet shores on your line when turning etc etc etc ....)

I've got a 15t cog- would you have any other back cogs to throw me for it? I'm currently trying out different gearing!

I saw in another thread that you are moving from 46T to a 42T chainring, if I could get both the 46T and the cog off you, you are very welcome to my 17T cog. It's just that is all I have so in order to get home I would have to swap cogs there and then! I also have a 39T chainring you are also welcome to, it is shitbox though. My BCD is 130 BTW.

his dropouts are semi-vertical so a bit of messing with the chain (new and halflink?) should get it to fit!

Anyone have any 1" threaded forks going cheap the steerer length on the frame is 5.5 inches so not sure what length forks i would need. Is it around an inch bigger than the steerer length?

Also if anyone had a cheap front wheel as well that would be sweet.

Surely you could get that shit off with a bit sandpaper. but it would be a great theft deterrent.

It comes off fairly easily with sandpaper and a wire brush. Its meant to take the paint off but didnt even scuff it. You could lash it on in spots would deffo put off some scummers.
