This is the only thread for posting details on stolen bikes and information that may aid in their recovery. Do not start any other threads, as they will be locked, or moved here.

Before you post, be aware of some ground rules.

1. For legal reasons, please don't post pictures of alleged bike thieves.

2. You should include a recent picture of the bike along with a detailed description of the bike. Actual pictures of the bike should be used instead of stock photos. If you don't have any pictures then mention a few unique things about your bike such as dents or scratches in the frame/wheels or any stickers you had on it etc.

3. This thread should be used for notifying any available details of the theft – ideally include location, time, details of locks used, and any information on how the thief managed to get round any security measures adopted should be included. It isn't for smart comments, such as “you got what you deserved”.

Anyone who has had a bike stolen may also want to check the Bikes in garda possession gallery regularly in case it turns up there

You'll have much more success if you put up a photo, a vague description is nothing to work on. Was the whole bike standard or were there customisations?
If it was customised, what were the changes, what brand were they etc.
Keep an eye out on donedeal.ie and gumtree because they tend to be rife with stolen bikes. Also, report it to the Gardai in case they recover it (but odds are they won't give a shit that it was stolen so they'll only get back to you if they've come across it in some bust or arrest)

I don't have a photo, but it had shimano 7spd index downtube
shifters weinmann brakes and non aero levers new sucess sachs cranks and fr derailleur shimano rear, cxp22 aero front rim 600 hub , mavic rear and a beautiful sachs headset.
It was a poorly painted green (i just couldn't wait to get riding it) steel frame 58cm.
And i am sure the person who stole it has no idea of it's value
I will have to buy a new (secondhand) bike, i only ride steel ,how will i know it's not stolen?
Cheers

ah its easy enough to tell. Stolen bikes are usually always spotted straight away on sites like this, londonfgss and adverts.ie

if a 2nd hand bike is for sale, lacks information in its description and is a unusual price, its most likely stolen, or being sold by a ninny with more money than sense

if you have any suspicions, post the ad up on the forum, if someone doesn't recognize it maybe someone can tell if its hot or not

Not sure if we help out our non-fixed brothers and sisters but my little bro's White Aluminium Felt Hybrid just got robbed from the Carlisle gym a couple hours ago. Keeping eyes on adverts and gumtree etc but maybe someone else might spot it if I miss it. Also thought I'd chance posting here for the polo guys as the local scum often try flogging bikes in Sundrive park. Anyone round terenure/templeogue/crumlin could you keep an eye out? And if see it or similar, let me know. Pic is hopefully attached of same model but don't have a pic of his actual bike. Very noticeable being so shiny and white and what not. Was almost a thief magnet you could say haha.

Any help would be appreciated, however slim my chances are ><

Cheers, Darragh

Jack I just saw a bike just like that locked to a pole on dame street across the road from ricks burgers, was in a car so couldn't have a proper look but I'd be 90 percent sure it was your bike.

ah its not that interesting but basically I was coming home from a night out on camden street. thought I had it locked near a chipper in ranelagh but was in work the next day so didnt get a chance to check it out. walked home the same route i would have cycled and couldnt see it anywhere and started to get worried. checked all around ranelagh, around the canal, and around harcourt/camden street and the bike was nowhere to be seen. posted it up here as stolen and then a week later reported it stolen to the police. got a message from a mate sayin he'd seen my bike a couple of times in the same spot near harcourt diner locked to one of the office blocks there. checked it out straight away and there it was, hidden away.. dunno why i decided to lock it there and dunno how i missed it while i was looking around but hey, got my bike back and im happy now :)

Here's another tale of lucky stupidity...

About 10 years ago (yeah I'm that old) I was on a night out which started with some pool in the Palace on Camden st. I always locked my bike to the railings beside the bus stop right outside the front door.

Got a phone call as I was about to lock up which evidently led me to have a brain fart. Went in and played pool for about 2 hours, came out about 9pm and had a look at the bike, all good, went down to The Village and stayed there till kicking out time, about 2am... as I rummaged in my bag to get my coat what did I see down the bottom but my lock!!!

Totally expected my bike to be gone but there she was still hanging on the railings 7 hours after I'd left her sitting there... Phew!!!

Just had my bike stolen there. Was pretty old and il look for photos but im not sure if i have any.
They cut the frame so thats no use, anyway the only thing i really care about are the silver truvativ cranks and chain ring.

In case anyone comes across the rest of it though. It had a white saddle with Rage written across it. A quill stem, and old silver front wheel and one of those fixed gear rear wheels with the red tape that they sell in city cycles.

Hi, new here.

My bike was stolen from outside my house in Ranelagh on Monday night/Tuesday morning. Some time between 1am and 8am.

It was a blue Dolan track frame.
Fixie.
White wheels and black tires.
Racing handle bars with half blue tape half steel.
Black/Grey crank shaft.
Black forks.
Distinctive knocks are little circle chips in the paint on the cross bar where I would dink it with my lock almost everytime. And on the right horizontal bar that holds the rear wheel there is a big gash in the frame from the chain after a fall.

I loved that thing and now I'm feeling guilty that I can't remember the colour of the saddle

It's very distinctive and the only one I have seen in Dublin.

NOT MY FRAME BUT EXACTLY LIKE IT.

@cpt.nately

your image is pretty small. try viewing that image in its own window and link the image by copying the url, click the image tab and paste the url between the brackets

e.g. and the image will be the original size on this page. hope this helps!
